Stellar Activ-FOLATE contains a 3rd generation methylated folate called Active ExtraFolate-S (as 5-MTHF).
Active Extrafolate-S does not need to be broken down by the body through a complex enzymatic metabolic process like conventional synthetic Folic Acid. This means that it is ready to be used by the body immediately. It is 7 x more bioavailable (better absorbed) than synthetic Folic Acid.
Stellar Activ-FOLATE can be used prior to conception, throughout pregnancy or together with any Folate depleting medications such as Oral Contraceptives, Anti-Depressants, Anti-Convulsants or Methotrexate.
2 Pack Sizes: 30s or 120s.
Each pack contains a:
Take one Peach Folate Tablet in the morning with breakfast or as prescribed by your Healthcare Professional.

Folate is essential during pregnancy as it helps prevent Neural Tube Defects such as Spina Bifida and Cleft Palate. The highest risk for Neural Tube Defects occurs between the 21st and 28th day after conception when the embryonic neural tube closes. This is in the first month of pregnancy, often before a woman even knows that she is pregnant. Therefore, one should start supplementing with Folate at least 2 to 3 months prior to falling pregnant as per the World Health Organisation’s Guidelines.
Stellar Activ-FOLATE is suitable for use by vegetarians and vegans.
Folate vs Folic Acid? Folate is the naturally occurring form of Vitamin B9 (a metabolically active form) whereas Folic Acid is a synthetic form of Vitamin B9 (an inactive form). The body does not convert Folic Acid into active vitamin B9 very well, so un-metabolised Folic Acid may build up in the bloodstream which can have negative health effects. Thus, Folate and Folic Acid are not the same thing.
Some people are poor Folic Acid metabolisers. They usually have a polymorphism of the enzyme MTHFR. In these cases, it is essential that these people take Folate (5-MTHF) as they cannot metabolise synthetic Folic Acid.
Folate is used in the Methylation Cycle and is involved in Red Blood Cell formation, Neurotransmitter production and Protein Synthesis. Methylation influences the production of Glutathione a major Anti-Oxidant and protector of cells.
Low Folate status (Folate deficiency) has been linked to Depression.
